INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION LEAGUE - KUWAIT

INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION LEAGUE - KUWAIT

DBO EXCELS WITH HATRICK OF HATRICKS AND DHL MOVE AHEAD

With the weather perfect for football and the artificial pitch made lively by the heavy downpour it was goal fest at the 7th round matches of the ongoing IFF-Kuwait league being held at Daya Astro Turf pitch on 18th December 2009.

The 1st match was between Don Bosco Oratory and INDIANS. DBO was expected to win the match easily, but much was expected from INDIANS after their previous dismal outings. They did start on a bright note, but once again their strikers had no clue at their shots. DBO opened the scoring through their star striker Leroy and went on a rampage before half time to lead 4-0 at the lemon break with goals from Leroy, Ratan, Peter and Steven.
In the second half INDIANS went on a defensive mode to contain the opposition and allowed DBO to camp permanently in their half. This move allowed the DBO strikers and midfielders to play around with the opposition at will and it was just a matter of time before INDIAN defence succumbed to the pressure.

The floodgates opened with Ratan, Stevin and Leroy notching their respective hat tricks with Liston also sounding the scoreboard. INDIANS were left dazzled by this onslaught as they could not control the young brigade of DBO from scoring at will. Leslie of INDIANS tried hard on his own to control the proceedings somehow, but the required support from his teammates was inadequate to keep DBO at bay. The match ended with DBO winning comprehensively with an 11-0 margin and thereby topping the league table on a better goal average going into holiday season break.

The second match was between DHL and Santos United. DHL searching for their 1st win in the league to kick start their season and Santos United looking to consolidate their position in the league table started the match in a whirlwind motion. Both the teams matched each other in the initial stage of the match, but DHL were more forceful in their attack. Santos United looked dangerous in their counter attacks with Basheer and James Rebello excelling upfront.
DHL were awarded for their persistent attack and defender Elvis Camelo opened the scoring with a well timed placement. Santos United equalized immediately when a long floater from Basheer caught the DHL keeper off guard and the ball entered the net. At this stage it was unpredictable as to who will be the winners as both the teams played swift soccer with the astro turf pitch complimenting fast play. DHL went ahead as Qusai applied the finishing touch to the brilliant display of football from DHL defender Calado. DHL kept the momentum and once again Calado in a brilliant move all by himself scored the 3rd goal from a very acute angle which surprised the spectators. Santos United with their hardworking midfielder Godwin fashioned the move upfront and once again their star striker Basheer reduced the margin with a cool finish to go into the breather 3-2 in favour of DHL. At the change of ends DHL upped the ante and a blistering short from DHL striker Rosario bludgeoned the net to go up 4-2. Santos United once again showed their grit and will power and upped the pressure on DHL and reduced the margin through James Rebello the score being 4-3. At this period it looked like both the teams might share points, but DHL keen on winning the match scored their 5th goal through substitute James to end the match 5-3 in favour of DHL and thereby notching their 1st win and going in the holiday break with positive frame of mind. Santos United showed a lot of promise and grit with Godwin in midfield and Basheer and James Rebello excelling upfront.
Both the matches were supervised by IFRA - Indian Football Referees Association.

As the holiday season approaches Indian Football Federation – Kuwait (IFF-K) takes this opportunity to wish all the affiliates, players and their families, IFRA, media partners goa-world.com team, Arab Times, Kuwait Times, Indiansinkuwait.com, Kuwaitsamachar.com, and all the football loving fans a “Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2010”

Note: The next matches are scheduled for Friday, 8th January 2010 with AVC- Kuwait taking on SkyNet followed by INDIANS with DOMNICK SAVIO.

IFFK League into the 6th Round

INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION - KUWAIT

The weather wet and pleasant, the pitch an absolute beauty to play on and the atmosphere in and around the stadium was electric with IFFK members in full attendance. This was the scene on the eve of the 6th round matches of the ongoing IFFK League at the astro turf ground at the Daiya School on 11th December 2009.
The 1st match of the day was played between Santos United and MAC at 7.30am. Santos United was depleted in their attendance as players are on holidays due to commencement of the holiday season and MAC were out to prove that they are no mere pushovers. The match began with Santos United dominating the proceedings early on with Godwin marshalling the midfield and James Rebello excelling up front. MAC were slow in their start and just could not get in to their grove at the onset and were seen defending initially. Santos United took the lead through James Rebello and Basheer Kutty made it 2-0.

MAC increased their tempo and in one such move reduced the margin through Abdul Rahman to enter the lemon break with hopes of an early equalizer. The second half started with both the teams showing much promise. Santos United searching for the third goal and MAC lining up for the equalizer. MAC showed much promise and vigor in the second half and were unlucky not to equalize when a 15 yard shot from the hard working Abdul Rahman stung the cross bar and went out with Santos United goalkeeper rooted to the ground. MAC had to bow down to the pressure applied by Santos United with match ending in favor of Santos United 2-1. If only MAC strikers and midfielders had to convert the chances which came their way then the score line would have been different in the end. It may be noted that Santos United is a well improved team this season with excellent midfielders and strikers and kudos to their management for their tireless efforts. Today’s was a much better performance by MAC considering the outcome of their previous two matches and showed everybody that they keep on improving as time goes on.

The second match was between seasoned campaigners AVC-Kuwait and new entrants INDIANS. AVC-Kuwait being unaware of the playing tactics of INDIANS and their unfamiliar line-up started the match cautiously. INDIANS did well to hold their opponents for the first 15 minutes of the first half with their goalkeeper excelling. AVC-Kuwait forged ahead when a well directed shot from Francis (Sr.) from the top of the box was deflected by Joe into his own goal much to the dismay of his goalkeeper. This opened the floodgates and AVC- Kuwait after gauging their opponents initially went on the onslaught with more goals from Francis (Sr.) Anthony and Braulio reading the lemon break scoreline 4-0 in favor of AVC. The second half started with a flourish for AVC-Kuwait and their star striker Anthony Rodrigues notched his second consecutive hattrick in the league and substitute Molvito also sounding the scoreboard. INDIANS did make a foray in AVC’s penalty area during the later stage of the match and were duly awarded a penalty, but unfortunately could not reduce the margin as AVC’s substitute goalkeeper and tie-breaker specialist Nikush stopped the spot kick much to the dismay of INDIANS supporters and players. The game ended with the score 8-0 in favor of AVC-Kuwait. Overall it was a clinical display by AVC-Kuwait and a job well done. INDIANS showed much promise throughout the match in terms of holding their opponents at bay, but their strikers and midfielders will have to get their act together to match the opposition in their future matches.

Both the games were professionally officiated by Indian Football Referees Association (IFRA) which is the only professional and registered body amongst the Indian expatriate football officials in Kuwait. It may be noted that all the matches played so far in this season have been extremely disciplined and the credit goes to the professional approach shown by IFFK, IFRA and the affiliates. Though there is intense competition and rivalry on the field, but off the field the same is converted into friendship and respect. And finally to those who are eagerly waiting to know how far and long Indian Football Federation- Kuwait will go, IFFK management suggests measuring the horizon to get the exact answer.

IFF Kuwait League - AVC and Dominic Savio victorious

Indian Football Federation Kuwait
IFF-K Headlines - Friday 6th Dec 2009

AVC and Dominic Savio Victorius

In the ongoing IFF Kuwait League AVC and Domnic Savio scored identical 3 nil victories over their opponents DHL and MAC respectively.

The first game between DHL and AVC was fast paced as both teams were trying to dominate each other from the kick-off . But as the game progressed AVC with their accurate passes took control of the proceedings and were rewarded when Anthony Rodrigues cleverly flicking the ball past the DHL goalkeeper to take a 1:0 lead at the close of first half. In the second half DHL tried their best to overcome the deficit by putting pressure repeatedly on the AVC defense and they came close to scoring several times. They will rue the missed chances which came their way. Anthony Rodrigues of AVC continued his good form and kept the DHL defense on their toes and he was rewarded with two goals in quick succession for his hatrick. This proved a mountain for DHL to climb and in the end the score read 3:0 in favor of AVC.

In the second Game we saw young Dominic Savio take on newcomers MAC. The game saw tempers rising from both ends which kept the referee on his toes. 15 minutes into the game Dominic Savio were awarded a penalty for a foul committed in the penalty area and young Johnathan Fernandes made no mistake as he placed the ball neatly to the left of the goal keeper making him a mere spectator. Johnathon quickly added a second with a good solo run and taking Dominic Savio’s to two goals lead. Within minutes Abdulla put his name on the score sheet with a neat finish. In the second half tempers continued to rise and we saw the first red card of the League. MAC did try hard to come back and came mighty close to scoring a couple of goals. But in the end the score remained Dominic Savio’s (3) – MAC (0).

The IFRA Officials did an exceptional job in officiating the day’s proceedings.

A good learning experience for the 2 upcoming teams

Indian Football Federation Kuwait (IFF): Friday 13th Nov 2009 was a day where two experienced teams clashed with two teams that were mere beginners. And it clearly showed on the score sheet.

Match 1: was played between AVC V/S Dominic Savio’s. AVC clearly had most of the ball possession right from word go. Within 9 minutes from the start of the game Kevin Vaz put AVC in front by neatly placing the ball behind the net. Dominic Savio’s lacked experience and it clearly showed as they were loosing the ball more often than not. Dominic Savio’s missed a number of chances to equalize but they could not grab onto the opportunities that came their way. In the mean time AVC looked strong and determined to score more goals. During 25th minute Agnelo Miranda scored AVC’s second goal of the game with a brilliantly timed long range shot which left the goal keeper a mere spectator. Before the half time Kevin Vaz scored yet again to take the score to 3-0. Post half time the game did not change much as compared to the first half as AVC cruised along the second half of the game as well and just like the first half the Kevin Vaz struck once more and completed his Hat-Trick. Later in the second half goals came from Francis Fernandes, Kevin Vaz and Anthony Rodrigues. The Match ended with a score line of AVC (7) – Dominic Savio’s (0). Top scorer for the game was Kevin Vaz with brilliant 4 goals. The match was officiated by Tiago Fernandes as the center referee, Sarto Baptista and Richard Dixon as the Lines Official.

Match 2: was played between Santos United V/S Indians. Indians are a newly formed team that is trying to stamp their authority and in the mean while Santos United has years of experienced under their belt. But Santos United was surprised as the Indians took the lead with the help of Joe who cleverly put the ball behind the net. But Santos proved their worth and came back strongly with the help of Roque Trevasso who equalized brilliantly and Basheer Kutty who put Santos United in front for the first time in the game. Upon half time the score remained 2-1. As the second half commenced Basheer Kutty struck once again to take the score to 3-1. Inexperience clearly showed upon the Indians who struggled to get a foot into the game and in the mean time Joseph Melon struck twice to move the score ahead at 5-1. The last strike came from Bonny Colaco from Santos Untied who sealed the game. The match ended with the score line of Santos united (6) – Indians (1). Top scorer for the game was Basheer Kutty and Joseph Melon who scored 2 goals each. The match was officiated by Milagres Crasto, Tiago Fernandes and Vincent Pereira as the Lines Official.

The game will be a good learning experience for the 2 upcoming teams Dominic Savio’s and Indians. The day saw as many as 14 Goals in total which is a record in itself for the record number of goals to be scored in a day.

Next Week Games will be as below:
VETERANS V/S AVC Time 7:00 am
DBO V/S MAC Time: 8:30 am

IFF added a new chapter by organizing the matches on the artificial pitch (Turf)

IFF added a new chapter by organizing the matches on the artificial pitch (Turf

Indian Football Federation Kuwait – IFF added a new chapter by organizing the matches on the artificial pitch (Turf) at the Dayaa grounds on November 6th 2009. It was an overwhelming experience for all the players to play on this novel surface and the credit should go to the high profile members of Indian Football Federation Kuwait for arranging the new ground at such a short notice as the previously scheduled ground was under maintenance.

The 1st match in the IFF tournament was kicked off between the mighty DHL v/s the energetic Don Bosco Oratory (DBO). But the day clearly belonged to DBO and especially Leroy Rodrigues from DBO who scored a hat-trick and single handedly took the game away from DHL. The game commenced at 7:20 AM and within 15 min’s after the kick off Leroy put DBO 1-0 up by cleverly placing the ball behind the net from a ball that was superbly crossed by Leo Rodrigues. But within minutes DHL fought back and equalized with the help of Roland Fernandes who neatly placed the ball to the right of the goal keeper. The score remained 1-1 at half time. DBO clearly dominated the second half of the game and Leroy once again proving a thorn for the DHL’s defense as he scored 2 more goals and completed a hat-trick. DHL tried its best to make a come back into the game but all its efforts went in vain as Steven Rodrigues scored the fourth goal for DBO and sealed the game. By the end of the game the score remained DBO (4) - DHL (1).

Leroy Rodrigues

Match 2 was played between the experienced Sky Net team V/S the seasoned Veterans. The game started with both teams trying their best to draw 1st blood but both the teams came extremely close in doing so. Fortunately for Sky Net the first goal came in the form of a self goal that deflected off the defender of the veteran’s team leaving the goal keeper stranded. But the sprit of the veteran’s team did not deter. As veteran’s players tried their best to equalize. Sky net on the other hand pressed equally harder to score more goals but the wall’s of veteran’s which is formed of defender’s like Mervyn Fernandes and Teddy Pinto did not allow Sky Net to succeed. By the end of the first half the score remained 1-0. 15 min’s into the second half sky net scored another goal with the help of Binoj Cheruvathor. The scored remained the same till the end of the match. Sky Net (2) - Veterans (0).

Friday 13th November 2009 will see the Youth of Dominic Savio’s battling against the dynamic AVC and all eyes will be on the second match for the day to watch the skills and control of MAC and Indians that will be playing against each other for the very first time in the IFF League.

The matches were officiated by the member organization and the only professional one in the business Indian Football Referee Association – IFRA which is an important part of IFF. Another notable factor was the presence of the families of the teams attending the matches which were missing all these years. This is due to the professionalism and discipline inculculated by the Indian Football Federation. Towards the end of the matches players were seen requesting the IFF – Kuwait officials to conduct the whole season on the same pitch. It was a joy to those who experienced it and pain to those who missed the opportunity. According to officials of IFF – Kuwait three grass grounds in Kuwait are earmarked this year for the whole season.

Upcoming Fixtures are as follows:

13th Nov (7:00 AM): AVC V/S Dominic Savio’s

13th No (8:30 AM): Santos United V/S Indians

20th Nov (7:00 AM): DBO V/S MAC

20th Nov (8:30 AM): Veterans V/S ACV
