On 29th morning Minister Pacheco along with the IFF-K President and Council members met with H.E. Mr. Ajai Malhotra, the Ambassador of India at the Embassy premises and had a fruitful discussion on issues concentrating and focusing on the vibrant Goan community. The ball started rolling for the finals from 6 pm of April 29th 2010. The minister sportingly accepted the invitation launching the site – updating the affiliated clubs and football lovers on the activities of the federation. Mr. Pacheco was also given a brief on the Federations aims and ambitions for the coming years to promote the sport and being a vigilant listener, he was very impressed and expressed his support towards Indian Football Federation (IFF)-Kuwait. The evening followed with the Federation hosting a dinner for the honorable guest. INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION KUWAIT LEAGUE
FAHAHEEL BROS, SKYNET & DHL NOTCH WINS

The 15th round of the Indian Football Federation Kuwait (IFFK) saw 3 matches being played on 12th March 2010 at the Daya grounds.
In the first match Fahaheel Bros took on Dominic Savio. Both the teams played cautious football in the first half with Alex and Anthony keeping Fahaheel Bros forwards at bay. The second half saw Fahaheel Bros taking control of the proceedings and ran over Dominic Savio with a hat trick from Malayil Shafi who scored 4 goals and a brace from Abdul Natukhanadi and Theriamkunnv Noushad completing the rout. The game ended with a score line of 7-0 in favour of Fahaheel Bros.

The second match saw Skynet Raiders locking horns with Santos United. Both the teams dished out entertaining football with attacks from flanks and midfield. Defenders kept the score line nil with timely interventions. Skynet Raiders took the lead through hard working Caridado. Santos United instead of falling back took the game to the opposition and upped the tempo and Basheer Kutty equalized with a crisp shot to level terms for Santos United. As the game was heading for spilt points Sabeer Valapil put Skynet Raiders ahead with a stinging grounder from top of the box which the Santos United goalkeeper could have stopped if he was more alert. Basheer Kutty and Godwin of Santos United tried hard for the equalizer, but luck and time ran out for them and Skynet Raiders came out victorious 2-1. Philip, Caridado and Basheer were outstanding for Skynet Raiders, whereas Basheer and Godwin along with Martin displayed good technique for Santos United.

The third match was between DHL Football Club and Veterans United. This was a keenly fought affair. DHL with its youth and exuberance and Veterans with their skill and experience matched each other in almost all departments of the game. DHL forwards Rosario and Terrance attacked in tandem, but Veterans’ defenders Teddy and Merwyn with their timely interceptions kept then at bay. DHL took the lead through Terrance who unleashed a powerful volley which gave no chance to the Veterans keeper to go in to lemon break at 1-0. In the second half Veterans midfield and defence contained DHL who by now with the introduction of Roland in the midfield were dictating terms. Rosario scored for DHL to increase the tally after missing two sitters earlier. INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION KUWAIT LEAGUE
The weather was unpleasant, yet the spirit of the teams and fans were high on 05th March 2010 at the ongoing Indian Football Federation Kuwait league being played on the Daya Astro Turf grounds. Three matches of the 14th round were held starting at 7am in the morning.
The first match was between DHL Football Club and MAC. DHL took the lead in the 45th second of the match through Rosario to go 1-0 up, but MAC replied back immediately to equalize through Feroze Peddyakil. The match was played at a fast pace as both the teams look to consolidate their positions in the league table. DHL upped the ante and applied sustained pressure on MAC and increased their lead through Roland and went in the lemon break with the score line reading 4-2. The second half was a one sided affair with DHL all over MAC territory and scored at will as MAC could not control the rampaging DHL forwards led by Rosario who scored a hat trick and midfield led by Roland who scored 5 goals in the match. Cruz completed the rout. Sahul Vemarath reduced the margin for MAC. The match ended with the score line reading 9-2 in favour of DHL and MAC once again succumbing to a yet another heavy defeat after starting promisingly.

The second match was played between title contenders Skynet and Fahaheel Bros. Skynet after convincing victory in the previous round were expected to do well in this match. Fahaheel Bros after defeat in the previous match were determined to make amends. Both the teams started positively at a normal pace. Fahaheel Bros increased the tempo of the match and opened the scoring through Nishant. Malayil Shafi increased the lead for Fahaheel Bros. Skynet were looking a bit disjointed in the midfield and defence and this resulted in Fahaheel Bros dominating the proceedings. Phillip Ferrao and Shabbir could not find the same rhythm and form as in the previous game. During lemon break Fahaheel Bros were sitting pretty with a comfortable lead of 2-0. In the second half Skynet simply gave up and Fahaheel Bros scored at will with Abdul Natukknandi scoring a hattrick and Eranjiyil also sounding the scoreboard. Skynet tried their best, but their effort was simply not enough to contain Fahaheel Bros who by now had got a complete hold of the match. Towards the latter stages of the match Shabbir of Skynet score the consolation goal and the match ended with a scoreline of 7-1 in favour of Fahaheel Bros.

In the third and final match league leaders AVC took on title contenders Don Bosco Oratory. AVC suffered a setback before kickoff when Francis Jr (groin) and Majed (knee) were ruled out of the match. DBO on other hand were poised to create an upset and cut AVC’s lead at the top of the table. The match started in a frantic fashion and AVC almost scored in the 4th minute of the game when Melvy’s header missed a fraction from entering the net after a crisp cross from Kevin. Melvy was again unlucky as his thundering shot hit the cross bar and went out. Much against the run of play DBO stunned their fancied opponent when Ronny latched on beautifully to a defence splitting pass from Liston and beat Alvaro with a neat finish. The early goal brought the best out of AVC and Benny’s header almost missed the target. AVC piled up more pressure on DBO and the referee pointed to the dreaded spot when DBO’s goalkeeper Blesson brought AVC’s striker down in the box. AVC’s midfielder Agnelo Miranda equalized from the spot kick. AVC went ahead with Anthony adding to his tally of 16 goals with a thunderous scorcher when put through by Kevin and go into the lemon break 2-1 up. The second half started with DBO searching for an equaliser and AVC trying to consolidate the lead. DBO’s Leo with his long crosses created panic in AVC’s makeshift defence, but bold defending by Peter with able support from Benny kept DBO at bay. Anthony of AVC missed a glorious chance when put in by Jimon, rounded the goalkeeper, but took the ball too deep and DBO survived. Michael of DBO kept up the pressure on AVC’s midfield and defence, but the forwards Larry and Peter could not capitalize. Both the teams played competitive soccer, but in the end seasoned campaigners AVC with experience and skill prevailed against DBO. AVC so far has maintained a clean sheet in the league and are in an impregnable position to win the title.
The matches were supervised by M.Crasto, Tony D’Costa, C.Fernandes, Sarto Baptista, D.Sharma, Junifer Rodrigues, C.O. John and Diago Rebello of the famed Indian Football Referees Association (IFRA).

The schedule of the 15th round to be played on 12th March 2010 at the Daiya Grounds is as follows:
1St Match Dominic Savio v/s Fahaheel Bros

IFFK League Reaching its Pinnacle

INDIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION KUWAIT LEAGUE

The ongoing league of Indian Football Federation Kuwait is finally reaching its pinnacle with matches being held continuously at the Astro Turf ground in Daya. The 13th round matches were held on 26th February 2010.

In the 1st match title contenders Skynet took on Indians. The match was played at a slow and cautious pace. Skynet after gauging the situation took the lead through Caridado and UniKrishnan consolidated it to make it 2-0 at half time. Star midfielder Philip Ferrao and Unikrishnan score again to win the match 4-0 for Skynet. Indian as usual did contain the opposition for a while, but could not do much in the frontline and succumbed to yet another defeat. Skynet showed tremendous skill in the midfield with the introduction of Shabbir who has been missing from their earlier matches. He along with Philip Ferrao mesmerised the entire opposition with their excellent display of football. It was a pleasant sight to watch Skynet President and IFFK council member Ivan Barretto showing his exquisite footballing skills in the first half.

The 2nd match was played between Dominic Savio and Veterans. Both the teams displayed good technique and skill. Veterans with their experience and skill matched their young opponents in every department of the game. Dominic Savio defended boldly with Alex marshalling the defence, but Veterans took the lead through their evergreen midfielder Rubin who has been enthralling the Indian footballing community for so many years with the same passion and zeal of yesteryears. Dominic Savio tried to force the pace with Savio excelling in the midfield, but the experience of Veterans snuffed their hopes. In the second half Veterans maestro Rubin once again scored from the top of the box with a scorcher to increase the lead and win the match for Veterans 2-0.

The 3rd Match was played between another title contender Fahaheel Bros and MAC. The match started with a blistering pace and MAC stunned the opposition and the fans by scoring the fastest goal of the league through Fayas Kakkot. Before Fahaheel Bros could settle in the game MAC scored the second goal through Abdul Rahman and an upset was on the cards. But Fahaheel Bros had other ideas and slowed the tempo of the match and reduced the margin through Mustafa who volleyed from the right with MAC goalkeeper rooted to the ground. With this goal Fahaheel Bros upped the tempo of the match and scored the equaliser through Riyas Babu. Mustafa missed a penalty to put Fahaheel Bros on top, but scored again through another penalty to go into the lemon time with the score line of 3-2 in favour of Fahaheel Bros. The second half saw Fahaheel Bros consolidating their lead through Abdul Kader. MAC tried in vain to reduce the margin and force back in the game, but Fahaheel Bros controlled the midfield play and came out victorious 4-2

The matches were supervised by Indian Football Referees Association – IFRA, the only professional and competent body of Indian Referees in the region. The schedule of the 14th round to be played on 5th March 2010 (Friday) at the Daiya Grounds is as follows:

DBO’s hard working central midfielder Steven unleashed a powerful shot which was deflected by DHL goalkeeper in the path of Velenky (Muna) who easily tapped in to give DBO a crucial 2 goal lead going in to the lemon time. In the second half DHL tried their level best, but stout defending by Michael and Liston and some able goalkeeping by Blesson in DBO goal kept DHL at a distance. As the match progressed towards the end DHL poured the entire force in the DBO half with Godfrey missing a glorious chance to reduce the margin. The second semi-final was action packed where DHL beat AVC-Kuwait by 2 goals to 1. DHL went 2-0 up in the first half, however after lemon break AVC were all over DHL in search of an equalizer, but DHL defence stood firm with some deadly goal line saves. Soon AVC upped the ante and scored the first goal through Kevin Vaz, but luck and the all important equaliser eluded them as Agnelo Miranda’s powerful shot deflected the target by inches. DHL held firm to enter the finals and AVC ended their campaign. The chief guest, Gaspar Almeida, was welcomed by Dale Ferrao with a flower bouquet to a thunderous applause.
